Wow, I finally update my xanga then I have something really funny to write about!

Friday:

So, the guys have been talking about street racing for awhile and I decided to rekindle my interest and see what the hype was all about. RT picks me up in his WRX and we all meet at a gas station. As we pull up, I notice three cops and think who's bright idea was it to meet here, but the guys kept reassured me saying that they always meet here and that they've never had a problem there.

So it was Rashan, Jimmy, his little brother, Dan, Mike, Tiffany, Hungyen, Eric, Alex, Sohail, Jon, Lester, RT and myself rolling out of the gas station in a line of eight cars!!

On the way, we must have seen at least 6 cops but we were trying to be smart and drive very conservatively. Somehow we go separated and Sohail in his mustang, Mike and Tiffany in the Z and RT and myself missed the turn to the racing location. So RT turns around and we head out there.

We get to a dark two-laned road and everyone is waiting on us. Someone mentions " hey is that a cop?" but I didn't think they were serious and I laughed it off. Sohail kept asking if anyone's radar was going off since his was like crazy but at that instance, we see lights!!!!

I casually, walk towards RT's car and contemplated about running into the woods...since that was the main reason why I wore sneakers in case this exact thing happend, but I change my mind and quickly get in while everyone else was scrambling to their cars.

SIDE NOTE: It is illegal to street race and even pedestrian can be ticketed as a spectator.

So as soon as I get in, the cop pulls up right in front of the car I was in! All I could think was CRAP!! I can't afford a ticket and get more points on my license!!

So the cop gets most of us out of the cars and he starts collecting licenses. Meanwhile, I stayed in the car, trying to think of an excuse.

Rashan does what he's good at yells, "we got the jack" and explains to the cop that Alex's car broke down, picking up a friend from the airport and that all of us were there to help him out!!

Before long, two back cars up come. In all, there were two FHP's (yikes!) and one TPD (probably the one who followed us from the gas station).

The cop was not very nice, and was butchering everyone's name, even the non asian ones!! He lectured us about the rules and that they knew why we were out there. Even called out "riceboy" but quickly pointed out that it was Mike's vanity plate, not a racist comment.

In the end, we all got a warning and had an escort out of the area and ended up hanging out at the house.

Then Saturday:

What can too much coffee, (or too little for addicts), do to a person??

Muh-yu, Ann and Tyann were at All Saints Cafe "trying" to study when the guy working behind the counter approaches a table with four people. He starts yelling at them and tells them to leave while he was cursing them out! Apparently, that party was at the cafe for a period of time and did not purchase coffee the whole time they were there.

The guy that works there continues to yell at them while he is reaching over and attempting to flip their table over!! I was so scared! After a few tries (I guess he was so flustered that he it took him a few tries) he actually flips it over!!! The party leaves and I quickly excuse myself and stand in line to buy a cup of their coffee!

Even went to Karaoke after the coffee incidence. Thank goodness there were no customers...

Finally Sunday:

I go eat chinese food only to see the same people from All Saints at Cool Grindz!! I wonder if they bought coffee there...

Went to Italian Pie for a sisterhood dinner, and made a fool of myself impersonating Angela and Aida!

Hung out at the library until midnight, only to go home and watch everyone else study!

Craziness this weekend! I barely got any studying done!! Time to focus!!

Had a pretty busy weekend!  Lately, there seems to be more busy ones than relaxing ones but I'm not complaining!  To sum up the weekend:

Watched Initial D at the KDPhi movie night where I sighed at all the cars and Muh-yu sighed at a guy, jabbed my own fingernail to my face (now it looks like I have a black eye...thanks Taff!), heard a little too much Chinese & Tagalog karaoking with KDPhi and APEX, discovered a new sheesha flavor:  mint and gatorade, got lost trying to get to Jefferson (sorry Kristen & Steph!), danced on a stage that was like a trampoline, ate a lot of Indian food with Mei-Ling and Taff, shocked the parents and the little kids with sexy dancing at a family event, cursed three times because I thought I was going to fall doing the tinikiling routine, lost TV interview because Eric cursed (j/k), watched the awesome ACC championship game and almost lost my voice, went to the Aida & Eric birthday party at Ki's, saw Thuyanh go "Viet" and slapped a random girl (way too hardcore!), drove my car on gas fumes around town, got locked in the pantry and had Fanette save my cookies from burning, laughed my food out at the Rhythmic Soul BBQ, and took "Friends" pictures in the freezing fountain!!!

but all fun times must come to an end....now it's time to study!!!!  Good luck with finals everyone!

Had fun at BTSR!  Although I had a rough start, running around getting errands done and going through multiple delays thanks to some rain clouds in ATL, but everything else went very smoothly.  Poor Melissa had missed her flight but I’m glad she made it in the end.  We even saw our own National Board’s Lynda do the hustle!  I’m sure that show is going to haunt her for the rest of her life!

Accomplished a lot of things during my trip, but I guess it was more of a Northeast EATING and shopping tour …there are a few highlights

NJ:

~Paid $65 for a taxi from the airport to the hotel at 1:30 am

~Ate a Rutgers sandwich…chicken nuggets, fries, lettuce, tomatoes & mayo stuffed in bread

~Stayed awake during the meetings…thank goodness for those stinging eye drops!

~Trying to put Melissa’s Bluetooth on without looking silly…” what minutes??  It’s the weekend!”

~Saw a girl looking silly trying to use Melissa’s Bluetooth

~Went to White Castle where a bunch of “Kumar’s” worked and ate… I guess we were the “Harold’s”!

~Packed 4 Norcal girls and 3 SE girls in one car

~Danced to Indian music at the Hooka club

~Got ripped off by the cab driver to the train station…was it really $12 for a five minute drive?

~Rode the NJ Transit with Melissa and our MSU roomies towards NYC

NYC:

~Met up with my mom at Pen Station

~Got box seats for Hairspray!  Cute show and definitely worth seeing!!

~Got my eyelash perm for $25 in Chinatown…what they say is true, everything is cheaper in Chinatown

~Got the “Asian discount” for my perm since the lady though I was Chinese…”that your daughter?  Why she Chinese?”...must have looked Chinese that day

~Ate “authentic” Chinese food…the Asian customers were served tea while the Anglo customers were given water…our table had tea…I guess I was Asian enough to account for my mom!

~Hounded by not-so-discrete solicitors for fake bags around every corner...no way these businesses can profit from selling hair trinkets for $2….it’s a front!

~Convinced my mom to NOT stand outside of the Today and GMA at 7 am

~Got asked for directions a few times….like I really know where I’m going but gave them directions anyways…hope they got where they wanted to go!!

~Was a good Samaritan by helping a Japanese lady trying to buy metro tickets…oddly, I was speaking to her in Japanese and she responds in english…hey, it worked!

~Ate at the café in Rockefeller Center by the statue.  I’m totally in a few pictures stuffing my face from people taking pictures from the upper level!

~Stocked up on a few Japanese items…yes that is a Japanese credit card and no, my mom did not steal it from some Japanese dude

~Had cheesecake from that restaurant Diddy made “Da Band” fetch cake from…It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t impressive …

~Was spoken to in Spanish…must have looked Hispanic that day

~Hit 5th  Avenue and linger all day only to have the guards lock the doors at Gucci as we are walking up…”the embossed leather…I can almost see it!!”

~Almost fell down the stairs at one of the stores...

~Trying to convince a woman that paying $45 for an “authentic LV” is unrealistic…”please, I think plastic that wraps the straps are at least $75”

~Made a few purchases and added some more on my wish list….

DC:

~Took my first Amtrack ride to DC….wasn’t as scary as I thought, although it doesn’t compare to a Shinkansen (Japanese bullet train).

~Saw papa panda at the zoo…the baby was just born a few weeks ago!

~Almost fainted from heat stroke…..twice!

~Saw the WWII & FDR memorial…I tried to listen in on a Japanese tour to learn more about the memorials but it was too hot for me to concentrate!

~Visited Arlington and Georgetown….to shop!

~Possibly gotten food poisoning from a “posh” restaurant in DC

~Realized that merchandise at H&M differ from NYC and DC….I knew I should have gotten it in NYC!

TPA:

~Sat through my first “rock” concert with EW&F and Chicago…interesting to observe inebriated older individuals trying to balance and dance at the same time

~Had a hard time seeing the purpose of the rock and roll sign…Chicago maybe, but EW&F is totally disco!

~Sympathized with the concessioning people…We all dislike Armark

~Alcohol at venues is not the best idea…you miss out on the concert during multiple drink and bathroom runs

~Caught my mom trying to dance….what I would call the “double door knocking” dance to EW&F

~Never seen so many air drums in my life

~Secretly wanted to cheer for the horn section…”Kiss our brass”

~Saw a number of women reminiscing their youth by dressing the part…heavy eyeliner,  cut up old tour shirt with rhinestone studded stretch pants with peak-a-boo circles down the leg, but the spider veins was a bit too much …and that was the lady next to me!

~Temporarily gotten lost…on Orient Ave!

~Ate “authentic” Greek food in Tarpin Springs

~Saw the manatees at Homossasa

~Got back to Gainesville and crashed for two days!

Hope everyone had a fun summer too!  Can’t wait to get the semester started!
